Valery Suchkov, a member of the City-Planning Council of Sochi and a well-known public activist, who was hospitalized with traumas on January 7, is sure that the attack on him was pre-planned and related to his public activities.

Mr Suchkov was hospitalized with traumas on January 7 in Khosta. He was told that he had been hit by a car. Galina Suchkova, his wife, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the incident occurred not far from their house.

"Valery told me that some unknown people called him and asked to get out to pick some important package brought to him from Moscow," she said and added that the callers said that "they were from the post office and could not find their house; therefore, they asked him to go out to the road."

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the on duty unit of the Sochi UVD (Interior Department) that they did not receive any reports about the incident with Valery Suchkov in Khosta.

Valery Suchkov said that "an organized gang, liquidating unwanted public activists, human rights defenders and journalists who oppose and reveal corruption in Sochi and territorial bodies," operates in Sochi.

Human rights defender Vladimir Kim is also sure that in Sochi "under the guise of the procedure of public hearings the expensive Sochi land is bargained away." "Valery Suchkov was actively and intelligently giving a clear assessment to this lawlessness. He supported the Imereti Lowland residents and held rallies against the Olympic lawlessness; only the authorities disliked it."

The Russian press has picked up a story first report in the Sunday Times from October 4, quoting Russian and Israeli sources, that the Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu had secretly visited Moscow last month to present President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin with a list of Russian nuclear scientists that are helping Iran to build a nuclear bomb. The secret visit by Netanyahu to Moscow on September 7 was initially denied by Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov (ITAR-TASS, September 9). Later it was confirmed by Medvedev, who said that he met Netanyahu to discuss “different matters,” but did not understand why the Israeli prime minister came to Moscow in secret. Medvedev added: “We talk with the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad –our position is to talk to all” (www.kremlin.ru, September 20).
