Human Rights Center “Memorial” has reported that a recently kidnapped 15-year old Ingush teenager Magomed Mutsolgov has been tortured by the security services of Ingushetia.

According to the information from the HRC “Memorial”, the child was kidnapped on August 8th and for two days he was tortured and beaten. On August 10th, it was revealed that the victim was at the Nazran Police Department. For all that time, the police did not allow him to meet with his family or a lawyer. On August 12th, “Memorial” members found Magomed Mutsolgov, who was kidnapped on August 8th in Nazran, and interviewed him. He told them that after his abduction, he was taken to an unknown place where he was tortured with electric shock and beaten badly. The members of the Ingushetian security forces demanded that he recognize explosive devices and ammunition that were found near the Surhahi village and confess that they belonged to his older brother Mustafa.

Andrei Soldatov of Agentura.ru, writing for the Moscow Times: Right from the start, the latest Russian spy story resembled the stuff of which Soviet spy legends are made. We have a main hero — an intelligence agent who refuses to buckle when tortured. We also have a traitor who meets face to face with the hero in his prison cell. Last week, we may have learned the name of this traitor. Depending on which media report you read, it was either Colonel Shcherbakov or Colonel Poteyev who revealed the 11 Russian “illegals” working in the United States. |
