According to the New Region news agency (Novy Region), last Thursday at 9:00 PM a group of 30 to 40 young men with Caucasus appearance allegedly attacked two young men of Slavic appearance, who were sitting on a park bench.
Coordinator of Union of Orthodox Brotherhoods, Yuri Ageshchev, who witnessed the incident, told the news agency that everything happened suddenly. "I was walking with my Serbian colleagues on the Red Square. All of a sudden there appeared a wild crowd of young men, looking like Chechens or Azerbaijanis, who started screaming and beating our Russian guys. Everything lasted two to three minutes. Then the attackers blended in with the market aisles of the Manege. The scene of the fight was all stained with blood," the eyewitness said.
The news agency reminded that it was the second major brawl in Moscow involving Slavs and Caucasus nationals. Early morning of June 3 a scuffle between the locals and nationals of Caucasus republics occurred in Southeast Moscow on Stavropol Street. The eyewitnesses reported that up to 200 people took part in the clash. Baseball bats and trauma-inducing weapons were used. Moreover, the clash had the nature of "Russians vs. Caucasus", and the conflicting parties had agreed on the scene of a face-to-face meeting beforehand.

Russia may carry out a preemptive nuclear strike in a situation critical to its national security, according to a revamped version of Russia’s military doctrine that will be published by the end of the year. In an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta on November 20, Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said that the doctrine will now provide for a possible preemptive nuclear strike depending on situational considerations and the intentions of a potential adversary. |
